Good Samaritan Health Systems Selects Blue Iris to Integrate
Physician Office Practices
MITEM's Blue Iris eLaborate and Blue Iris Connect to be used to Integrate Lab Outreach Customers with Good Samaritan’s MEDITECH MAGIC System
MENLO PARK, CA – February 15, 2007 - MITEM Corporation, a provider of integration software solutions and clinical applications for healthcare, today announced that Good Samaritan Health Systems has selected MITEM's Blue Iris eLaborate and Blue Iris Connect products to automate the lab ordering and results posting process for key physician office lab customers. The Blue Iris family of products provides real time, bi-directional integration between MEDITECH MAGIC, Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and physician offices in laboratory outreach programs.
Blue Iris eLaborate provides a flexible, easy-to-use, web-based order entry application that can connect to virtually any hospital information system, laboratory information system and physician practice management system.
“In our implementation we plan on integrating physician offices that use Dictaphone’s MD Essentials and A4 Health System’s EMR products with Blue Iris eLaborate. For physician’s offices that do not have an EMR, we plan on using Blue Iris eLaborate to provide a web-based order entry and results viewing capability,” said Harold Courtois, director of laboratory and radiology.
“The Blue Iris Connect module is being used to provide automated connectivity from Blue Iris eLaborate to MEDITECH MAGIC,” said Eric Reynolds, MITEM’s vice president of sales. He added “this automation eliminates many of the error-prone manual processes that can be a part of ordering lab work. In addition, Blue Iris Connect can automatically admit a new patient through MEDITECH for registration and billing purposes–a process that must take place before a lab test can be ordered.”
“The ability to provide a connectivity offering to our lab customers will enhance physician productivity and give our hospital an advantage in competing with the big national labs,” stated Courtois. “Blue Iris Connect also helps us maintain our commitment to delivering superior patient care by providing additional safeguards that check key patient demographics to validate lab orders,” he added.
All Blue Iris applications and solutions run on the Blue Iris Core - a powerful and time-tested integration platform that provides real time, bidirectional integration with MEDITECH MAGIC applications and other hospital systems. The Blue Iris Core technology non-invasively integrates with MAGIC applications – this means that integration occurs via the data terminal stream; therefore, all Blue Iris applications and solutions capture and retain MAGIC's native business rules, logic, prompts and security.
