MITEM Release NXTier Services Providing
Greater Reach for
MitemView Integration Servers
NXTier Services allow any
application on any platform to access MitemView services in a
loosely-coupled way
MENLO PARK, CA - June 11, 2002 - MITEM Corporation, a leading provider
of legacy integration software and eBusiness solutions for Global 2000
companies and government entities, today announced the immediate availability
of NXTier Services. NXTier Services extend MitemView's broad application
integration capabilities by adding support for a wider range of new
devices and applications.
"Our customers are being required to add Web and application servers,
mobile and wireless devices, other integration brokers and Web Services
gateways to their enterprises. This adds new tiers of complexity, and
the need for integration flexibility and agility. NXTier Services gives
our customers agility by offering a unified way to connect their MitemView
servers from any such new application or device running on any platform.
This translates into increased usefulness and value for their software
dollars," states Martin Fincham, vice president of marketing at
MITEM.
NXTier Services are comprised of software components that install on
the target system, and new MitemView server-side functionality that
enhances their connectivity. These components, called Delegates, are
lightweight and expose a simple interface that is easy to configure
and maintain. The NXTier Services design enables rapid and cost effective
deployment of multi-tiered applications that are free from the traditional
design complexities associated with distributed computing.
NXTier Services has been recently deployed at major customer sites
like Cinergy, CalPERS (California Public Employees' Retirement System)
and Swiss Life to provide access to MitemView applications from systems
such as Microsoft's IIS Web server, SilverStream's eXtend application
server, webMethod's integration platform and Oracle's 9iAS application
server. MITEM has also demonstrated NXTier Services running on hand-held
devices. In the future, NXTier Services can weave together separate
instances of MitemView to create the next generation of highly distributed
integration solutions.
With this announcement, MITEM offers Microsoft COM, Pure Java and 'C'
reference (Win32) implementations of NXTier Services. MITEM has ported
the NXTier Services Runtime to multiple platforms including Windows,
UNIX, and selected hand-held devices running Windows CE. Future platforms
will include the Palm OS and IBM's OS/390 environment. NXTier Services
are a standard product feature and will be included with all MitemView
server configurations.
