MITEM Announces Integration Adapters
for Unisys
Offering widest range of connectivity
to legacy systems, MITEM reaches out to a world where 80% of the largest
banks and half the world's insurers employ Unisys solutions
MENLO
PARK, Calif., - December 11th, 2001 - MITEM® Corporation, a leading
provider of legacy integration software and e-Business solutions announced
today the availability of MitemView 5.3.3, providing improved connectivity
to Unisys systems. MITEM provides connectivity to the widest range of
legacy systems in enterprises today, including IBM, Tandem, Bull, ICL,
Digital, UNIX, Data General and Unisys.
Approximately 70% of corporate data processing is still handled by
mainframe and midrange systems. The most common platform is IBM with
the OS/390 and AS/400 range of servers. But for many enterprises, particularly
those in the government, financial services and telecommunications sectors,
other legacy platforms are still common and support mission-critical
systems.
"Many enterprises have IBM systems but few have only IBM systems,"
said Martin Fincham, MITEM's vice president of marketing. "There
is a world beyond IBM where systems from vendors like Unisys, Compaq
and Bull exist. For instance, Compaq's NonStop servers process 66 percent
of all credit card transactions and 95 percent of securities transactions
worldwide. Likewise, Bull technology is particularly favored by the
public sector and can be found in 41 states and 150 agencies."
MitemView enables real-time integration of and between disparate
systems without requiring changes or additions to existing applications.
Now with the release of MitemView 5.3.3, countless government
agencies that utilize Unisys systems can have the most complete solution
for extending the investment in their stalwart legacy systems.
The financial services industry will also benefit. Unisys has a strong
presence in 80% of the largest banks and half of the world's insurers.
Typical applications for MitemView include integrating Unisys
systems with CRM applications, Web-enabling Unisys systems and connecting
Unisys systems to an EAI infrastructure like TIBCO's ActiveEnterprise.
"MITEM believes that true enterprise integration embraces system
diversity, and yet many integration software vendors still only support
IBM platforms," said Fincham. "With this latest version of
MitemView, we are reconfirming our commitment to providing solutions
that handle the widest breadth of application integration challenges
faced by Global 2000 companies and public sector entities."
Jim Sinur, Vice President and Research Area Director for Gartner states,
"Our clients are telling us that the breadth of integration technologies
is rising in importance over time as they create more composite applications
and workflows that go across discrete business functions. Vendors that
can integrate myriad legacy systems, new functions and rented functions
will experience better growth."
About MitemView 5.3.3
This latest release of MitemView enables non-invasive integration
with Unisys Series 1100/2200, A-Series and ClearPath systems that support
the UTS60 or T27 terminal protocols via TCP/IP. Because MitemView
is non-invasive, no changes or additions are required to the Unisys
systems. The MitemView Software Development Kit (SDK) is used
with Microsoft Visual Basic, Sybase PowerBuilder or Java to create new
composite applications that source data from multiple systems. Applications
built with MitemView can be deployed in a Desktop, Server, or
Web centric architecture and will execute on any 32-bit Windows operating
system.
Pricing starts at $50,000 for a typical integration project. MITEM
provides a full range of technical support, education and consulting
services.
