MITEM® Introduces MITEM.NOW
Roadmap
To Help Businesses Integrate Disparate Information Systems
Technology Roadmap Makes Path
to Full Integration Shorter, Smoother, Less Costly
MENLO PARK, Calif., September 25th, 2001 - MITEM Corporation,
a provider of application integration software for Global 2000 companies,
today launched MITEM.NOW, a technology roadmap for enterprises in pursuit
of 100 percent integration of disparate information systems. Drawing
upon best practice knowledge acquired over many years of working in
core industries, MITEM.NOW comprises BizPlates, or templates,
and productivity tools that automate routine processes and reduce deployment
time for new interfaces, enabling enterprises to reap the benefits of
integration more rapidly and cost effectively.
The core software component of MITEM.NOW (pronounced "mitem dot
now") is MitemView®, MITEM's signature integration product
that has already been successfully deployed in many larges enterprises.
It is an industry-proven integration solution using a patented non-invasive
approach pioneered by MITEM. A true "universal adapter," MitemView
can interface with any existing or future application, regardless of
the underlying operating system, programming language, database, or
communications protocol, allowing businesses to achieve integration
without requiring changes or additions to existing applications - and
without restricting future technology choices.
Despite many attempts to standardize a universal set of application
interfaces, large organizations today face a myriad more integration
challenges than ever before.
"Each new wave of standards has only increased the scale and complexity
of the integration challenge, leaving customers frustrated," said
Martin Fincham, MITEM's vice president of marketing. "That's because
information systems in the enterprise are in perpetual change. We call
this dynamic state the Integration Continuum . That's why MITEM.NOW
has been built for adaptability and change over time."
The problem faced by IT managers is how to meet today's information
needs while ensuring that the chosen solution does not become obsolete
in a few years. In that context, any attempt to design solutions that
will last is doomed to failure. "Systems that are built to change
are more valuable than systems that are built to last," wrote Roy
Schulte, vice president and research fellow, Gartner.
The answer is an integration solution that is flexible, scalable and
robust enough to handle everyday tasks as well as unforeseen business
initiatives, such as a merger or acquisition. Since nearly 70 to 80
percent of mission-critical enterprise data reside on legacy systems,
businesses need to be able to reuse their past IT investments. With
its non-invasive model, MITEM.NOW can bridge the gap to new applications
while remaining compatible with existing systems and any technology
requirements a company may have in the future.
MITEM.NOW Supports Multiple Integration Points
Over the years, companies accumulate a wide variety of disparate systems
that were developed to solve problems specific to groups within the
organization, creating a challenge for the IT specialists mandated to
unify them under one umbrella. MITEM.NOW offers businesses the ability
to integrate as many different systems - or integration points - as
they need. Because of its 16 years of experience in integrating legacy
systems, MITEM can support more integration points than most vendors.
It gives MITEM's customers a clear competitive advantage since more
integration means increased automation of routine business processes,
allowing for a more efficient deployment of human capital. The MITEM.NOW
roadmap enables businesses to adapt to the Integration Continuum
by helping them target areas for potential automation.
"MITEM.NOW provides enterprises with a clear path to build out
their information technology infrastructure," said Martin Fincham.
"They want integration now. They can use our roadmap to get from
here to there. At the same time, MITEM.NOW reflects our continued commitment
to delivering integration solutions that provide measurable return on
investment today."
