At
the clinical application level MITEM provides Blue
Iris, a Web-based "portal" that delivers
lab results, critical patient data, statistics, analysis,
voice recordings and medical images directly to the
desktop or to any mobile computing device. Blue Iris
enables real-time, bi-directional access to the "most
difficult to integrate" hospital information systems
like MEDITECH MAGIC.
At
the connectivity level, MITEM can integrate disparate
systems within the organization, or with external systems
via an HL7 interface. MITEM's powerful integration platform,
MitemView, represents over 17 years of development and
customer feedback. MitemView integrates many of the
legacy systems that power hospital information systems
such as MEDITECH MAGIC, HBOC Star, HBOC Series 2000,
HBOC HealthQuest, Siemens INVISION, Siemens MedSeries4,
CPSI, Dairyland and Keane First Coast.

AHMC teamed
up with MITEM Corporation to assist with the development
of Blue
Iris for their physician portal project.
Blue Iris, by
MITEM, delivers lab results, critical patient data,
statistics, analysis, voice recordings and medical images
directly to the desktop or to any mobile computing device.
Blue Iris presents all of this critical data via a single
view, Web-based application that is easy and intuitive
to use. The graphical interface, built with Macromedia's
Flash MX, contains richness and functionality that is
an order of magnitude beyond anything that has been
previously achieved with traditional Web-based applications.

Harvard Pilgrim
Health Care selected MITEM to support a key element
of its strategic eHealth Plan initiative. This initiative,
launched by HPHC President and Chief Executive Officer
Charles D. Baker, will allow the company to manage more
of its transactions across a wide variety of electronic
media including the Web.
HPHC's infrastructure
is based on several different legacy systems that contain
data about all of the company's various constituents.
Integration of these applications is an essential step
toward attaining the goals of the eHealth Plan initiative.
MitemView will
play a significant role in the new infrastructure by
integrating legacy applications and by automating myriad
mainstream transactions.

Palmetto
Health
MITEM delivered
a solution that allows hospital patients to pay their
bills via a Web-based portal with a credit card. When
credit card payments are now made via the portal, they
are first forwarded to Verisign for processing and acceptance.
Then the details of the transactions are batched for
a particular hospital's accounting system and sent as
XML data to
a MitemView application that resides on an integration
server. The MitemView application processes the batches
and post them to various hosts by supplying the details
of each payment: account number, Verisign number, amount,
etc.
MITEM was a key part of the overall
portal solution for Palmetto because the portal vendor
they chose could not integrate with legacy
systems. This solution has decreased significantly
the number of phone inquiries and walk-ins to the hospital
billing department.
